About the series
In the early 1990s, Italian publisher Granata Press brought a new, darkly atmospheric edge to the crime genre with Nero, a twelve-issue series. Named for its hard-boiled protagonist, the comic follows a private detective navigating a gritty, rain-slicked underworld, its moody art and noir storytelling drawing comparisons to classic American detective fiction. While the series was short-lived, its stylish, European take on the genre made it a distinctive cult favorite among readers of the period.
