About the series
From 1984 to 1987, AC Comics published Nightveil, a seven-issue series that followed the supernatural adventures of its mystical heroine, a sorceress in a distinctive costume. Written primarily by Bill Black and Steve Ringgenberg, with art from Mark Heike, a young Erik Larsen, and Richard Hackenburg, the book wove together occult threats and pulp-style action. Alongside allies like Laura Wright and Mike McCluskey, and facing foes such as the Scarlet Scorpion and Nirvana, Nightveil carved out a niche in the Bronze Age as one of the few solo female-led superhero titles from a small press. Its mix of magic and melodrama helped define AC's "Good Girl" art house style, making it a cult favorite among fans of offbeat, creator-driven comics.
