Norsk programblad

A uniquely Norwegian institution, Norsk programblad began its life in 1941 as the official listings magazine for the state broadcaster Norsk Rikskringkasting, but quickly evolved into a comic series that ran for 35 issues. Most frequently written by the medieval historian Snorre Sturlason and illustrated by artist Rolf Egeberg, the series is a fascinating artifact of wartime and post-war publishing, blending broadcast schedules with serialized comic storytelling. Its significance lies in its role as a sustained, state-sponsored platform for Norwegian comics during a formative period of the medium's history in the country.
