About the series
In the late 1970s, Spanish publisher Ediciones Vértice brought Jack Kirby’s original run of Black Panther to a new audience with Pantera Negra, an 8-issue series that reprinted the King’s vibrant, cosmic-inflected adventures of T’Challa. Collecting Kirby’s distinctive, high-energy storytelling and dynamic artwork from his mid-1970s tenure on the character, this short-lived but culturally significant series introduced Spanish readers to the Panther’s technologically advanced Wakanda and his battles against threats both mystical and superscientific. It stands as a key artifact of Kirby’s later Marvel work and a milestone in the international dissemination of the character.
