Peter Porkchops
DC · 1949–1960 · 62 issues
About the series
From 1949 to 1960, DC Comics published 62 issues of Peter Porkchops, a lighthearted, animal-themed humor series that blended slapstick antics with gentle parody. The strip’s title character, a pig with a knack for misadventure, was joined by a cast including Wolfie, Goofy Goose, and even a porcine take on Clark Kent, while the creative team of writers Jack Schiff and Sheldon Mayer, alongside artists Otto Feuer, Rube Grossman, and Mayer himself, kept the laughs rolling. A charming piece of mid-century DC’s funny-animal line, it’s a snapshot of an era when comics could be purely silly and still find an audience.
