Frode Øverli’s beloved Norwegian comic strip Pondus got the deluxe treatment in this six-issue series from Bladkompaniet (2001–2003), collecting classic gags alongside fresh material. Each volume paired Øverli’s signature slacker humor with reprints of American cartooning legends—Basil Wolverton’s grotesque energy and George Herriman’s Krazy Kat whimsy—while writers Are Kalvø and Knut Nærum contributed original prose. Anchored by the hapless everyman Pondus and his sharp-tongued friend Jokke, the series offered a warm, scrappy snapshot of early-2000s European comics culture, bridging local strip comedy with timeless masterworks.
