About the series
In 2006–2007, Viz Media adapted Hayao Miyazaki's epic animated film Princess Mononoke into a five-issue comic series, faithfully translating the lush, hand-painted visuals of Studio Ghibli onto the page. The story follows Ashitaka, a young prince cursed by a boar demon, as he journeys into a primordial forest caught between the gods of nature and the iron-forging humans of Irontown. This comic captures the film's sweeping environmental conflict and its fierce, wolf-raised heroine, San, with the studio's signature artistry intact. It remains a definitive print companion to one of Studio Ghibli's most celebrated works.
