R.I.P.D.

Peter M. Lenkov and Lucas Marangon introduced the Rest In Peace Department to Dark Horse in this four-issue 1999 series. The premise follows a pair of slain lawmen—one from the Old West, one from the modern day—who are recruited into an otherworldly police force tasked with tracking down souls that have escaped judgment and hidden among the living. This short run established the core concept and tone that would later inspire the feature film adaptation.
