About the series
A Western series from the Atlas era (1955–present, Horwitz), Rawhide Kid launched with a five-issue run that paired the talents of writers like Don Rico and Stan Lee with artists including Bob Brown, Jack Kirby, and Joe Maneely. This early incarnation of the character helped establish the archetype of the stoic, quick-drawing gunslinger in Marvel’s pre-superhero landscape. Though short-lived, it laid the groundwork for the more famous, longer-running series that would follow.
