Recruta Zero

A short-lived but fondly remembered Brazilian series from Editora Globo, Recruta Zero ran for 38 issues between 1989 and 1992. The title translates the classic American newspaper strip Beetle Bailey for a local audience, chronicling the misadventures of the famously lazy private and his long-suffering Sergeant Snorkel at Camp Swampy. While the strip's creator, Mort Walker, is the primary talent associated with the series, the Brazilian edition stands as a key example of how international comics were adapted and distributed in the country during this era.
