About the series
A post-war newspaper strip reprint series from Yaffa and Page, Rip Kirby collected the stylish, globe-trotting crime-solving adventures of its titular private eye, a former Marine known for his intellect and his pipe. Running for 14 issues beginning in 1962, the series primarily featured the work of writer Fred Dickenson and artist John Prentice, who took over the strip after its creation by Alex Raymond. The series also notably included contributions from Hilda Terry, one of the few female cartoonists working on adventure strips at the time. It matters as a key Australian reprint collection that preserved Raymond's elegantly drawn legacy and introduced a new generation to the sophisticated detective.
