Robbedoes
Robbedoes, the flagship weekly of Belgian publisher Dupuis, ran for an astonishing 67 years and over 3,500 issues, making it one of the longest-running comic magazines in European history. Launched in 1938, it became the primary showcase for the Marcinelle school of cartooning, defined by its rounded, expressive ligne claire style and a tone of warm, anarchic humor. The series is most indelibly associated with the foundational talents of Jijé, who wrote and drew extensively across the decades, as well as artists like Will and Morris, whose work helped define the magazine's visual identity. As the fertile incubator for iconic series such as Spirou et Fantasio and Lucky Luke, Robbedoes was not just a comic—it was the cultural heartbeat of Francophone comics for generations.
