About the series
From 1963 to 1975, Harvey Comics published Sad Sack Army Life Parade, a long-running 57-issue series that expanded the misadventures of the hapless, perpetually down-on-his-luck G.I. Sad Sack into a full military comedy troupe. Anchored by the creative trio of Fred Rhoads, Jack O'Brien, and George Baker, the book filled its pages with slapstick antics featuring a cast of colorful army archetypes, including the gruff General Rockjaw, the long-suffering Sarge, and the eccentric Hi-Fi Tweeter and Slob Slobinski. A lighthearted, all-ages take on military life, it stands as a key example of Harvey's knack for turning a single character into a reliable, gag-filled franchise during the Silver and Bronze Ages.
