Saga of the Sub-Mariner
Marvel · 1988–1989 · 12 issues
About the series
In the late 1980s, Marvel revisited the golden-age origins and World War II exploits of its first mutant, Prince Namor, the Sub-Mariner. Written primarily by Roy and Dann Thomas with art by Rich Buckler, this twelve-issue series weaves together the Atlantean monarch’s early conflicts with the original Human Torch, his partnership with Captain America, and his complex relationship with Betty Dean. A thoughtful bridge between the character's 1940s roots and his modern-day status, it explores the pride and tragedy of a man caught between two worlds.
