San Francisco Comic Book

A short-lived but significant artifact of the underground comix movement, San Francisco Comic Book ran for just two issues from 1970 to 1971, published by the San Francisco Comic Book Company and The Print Mint. Anchored by the raw, satirical work of Greg Irons and Robert Crumb, the series captured the anarchic, countercultural spirit of the era with its unpolished, often transgressive cartooning. Though brief, it stands as a snapshot of the early-’70s Bay Area scene, where the medium was being reinvented outside mainstream comics.
