Savage Action

Marvel UK’s Savage Action (1980–1982) was a 15-issue anthology series that served as a showcase for dark, experimental storytelling, often anchored by the shadowy vigilante Night Raven. With a rotating creative team that included Doug Moench, Paul Neary, and Maxwell Stockbridge on scripts, and striking art from Bill Sienkiewicz, David Lloyd, and Howard Chaykin, the title blended pulpy crime and horror with a distinctly British sensibility. Though short-lived, it stands as a notable early collaboration for several future industry legends, offering a gritty, atmospheric counterpoint to Marvel’s more mainstream superhero output.
