Savage Tales
Marvel · 1985–1986 · 8 issues
About the series
A short-lived Marvel anthology from the mid-1980s, Savage Tales (1985–1986) ran for eight issues and was most frequently written and drawn by Sam Glanzman, with additional art by Gary Kwapisz and Armando Gil. The series revived the title of Marvel's earlier black-and-white magazine, this time as a color comic focused on war, adventure, and pre-historic stories, often featuring Glanzman's gritty, historically-minded war tales. It stands as a showcase for Glanzman's distinctive, unglamorous storytelling and a late-era example of Marvel's willingness to publish genre material outside the superhero mainstream.
