Seduction of the Innocent

Rinehart & Company · 1954 · 1 issue
About the series

William Gaines, the publisher of EC Comics, commissioned this 1954 book as a rebuttal to Fredric Wertham's infamous attack on the medium, Seduction of the Innocent. Written by Gaines and EC editor Al Feldstein, the volume reprints dozens of EC horror, crime, and science-fiction stories to demonstrate their artistic and moral merit. Though only a single issue was published by Rinehart & Company, it stands as a landmark defense of comics during the Senate Subcommittee hearings on juvenile delinquency.
