Senseless Random Violence

Ian Shires wrote and drew all nine issues of Senseless Random Violence, a Dimestore series from 1987–1988 that lives up to its blunt title with a grim, hyper-stylized take on urban crime and psychological horror. The comic follows a lone, unnamed vigilante through a cityscape of decaying neon and casual brutality, with Shires’ jagged, expressionistic art amplifying the story’s raw, nihilistic energy. Though short-lived, it remains a cult touchstone for its uncompromising vision and its place in the late-’80s indie comics explosion.
