Sergeant Preston of the Yukon

World Distributors · 1953–1954 · 19 issues
About the series

In the early 1950s, World Distributors adapted the radio and television adventures of Sergeant Preston into a comic book series, running 19 issues. The strip followed a Canadian Mountie and his loyal dog, King, through the snowy Yukon, with scripts most often handled by veteran writer Gaylord Du Bois. Painterly covers and interior art by Alberto Giolitti gave the series a distinctive, atmospheric look that set it apart from more cartoony westerns of the era. It’s a solid example of a licensed tie-in that captured the frontier spirit for young readers of the time.
