About the series
In 2017 and 2018, DC Comics published Shade, the Changing Girl, a two-issue series written by Cecil Castellucci with art by Marley Zarcone. This short run reimagined the classic Shade, the Changing Man concept through a new, female-led lens, exploring identity and madness with a surreal, psychedelic visual style. Though brief, it served as a creative bridge to the larger Young Animal imprint, showcasing Zarcone's distinctive, expressive artwork and Castellucci's thoughtful character work.
