Shanda the Panda

From 1996 to 1997, Med Systems published Shanda the Panda, a seven-issue comic series that blended anthropomorphic adventure with a gentle, slice-of-life sensibility. Most frequently written by Mike Curtis, Carla Speed McNeil, and Robert Teague, and illustrated primarily by McNeil and Michele Light, the series follows the titular panda through quiet, character-driven stories that stand out for their warmth and understated charm. Though short-lived, it remains a fondly remembered example of 1990s independent comics, showcasing McNeil's early work before her acclaimed Finder series.
