Sjaak en Oom George
De Vrijbuiter · 1981–1983 · 3 issues
About the series
In this short-lived Dutch comic series from the early 1980s, published by De Vrijbuiter, the artist Jan van Haasteren (best known for his madcap, detail-packed illustrations) teamed up with writer Patty Klein to chronicle the adventures of Sjaak and his Uncle George. Over just three issues, the series offered a brisk, character-driven slice of European humor comics, showcasing van Haasteren's distinctive, bustling style before he became a household name in the Netherlands. It remains a charming, compact entry from the tail end of the classic Dutch comic strip era.
