Slaine

About the series
Pat Mills and Dermot Power brought the Celtic warrior Slaine to French publisher Soleil for this four-issue series, a self-contained chapter in the character's long-running saga. Set in a brutal, mythic version of ancient Britain, it follows the titular hero's bloody conflicts with monstrous foes and corrupt druidic powers. While Slaine had been a staple of British comics since the 1980s, this 1997-1998 miniseries stands out for Power's visceral, painted artwork and Mills's unflinching blend of Celtic mythology and dark fantasy. It's a potent, standalone dose of the series' signature savagery for readers who like their fantasy raw and uncompromising.
