About the series
In the late 1960s, Spencer Publishing launched Spectre Stories, a six-issue series that blended classic ghost tales with a modern, eerie sensibility. Written and illustrated by a rotating cast of creators, the anthology focused on atmospheric, self-contained horror stories rather than recurring characters. Though short-lived, the series has been remembered for its moody, black-and-white artwork and its influence on the horror-comics revival of the era.
