About the series
From 1967 to 1979, Gold Key Comics brought the original Star Trek television series to the printed page with 61 issues, offering new adventures for Captain Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Scott, and Sulu beyond the small screen. Writers Arnold Drake, Len Wein, and Dick Wood, along with artists Alberto Giolitti and Al McWilliams, defined the series' distinctive, often off-model look and feel, capturing the spirit of exploration while taking creative liberties with the familiar characters. Though not always faithful to the TV canon, this long-running series is a cherished piece of Trek history, serving as the first major comic continuation of the franchise and a bridge for fans between episodes.
