About the series
A scrappy, skateboarding homeless girl named Jesse Sanchez fights ninjas, pirates, and suburban boredom as the masked vigilante Street Angel. Published by Slave Labor Graphics in the mid-2000s, this five-issue series was a collaborative labor of love from writer Brian Maruca and artist Jim Rugg, blending deadpan humor with punk-rock, DIY energy. Its scrappy, handmade aesthetic and offbeat premise made it a cult favorite, capturing the spirit of indie comics at the turn of the millennium.
