Street Sharks
Archie · 1996 · 3 issues
About the series
In 1996, Archie Comics brought the radical, genetically engineered Street Sharks from TV to the printed page. Over three issues, writer Evan Skolnick and artist Nelson Ortega sent the crime-fighting half-shark brothers—Ripster, Jab, Streex, and Slammu—surfing into action against their nemesis, Dr. Piranoid. This short-lived tie-in series captured the over-the-top, environmentally conscious energy of the era's action figures and cartoons. It remains a colorful snapshot of mid-90s multimedia crossover, where Archie's stable briefly hosted a toothy team of aquatic vigilantes.
