Sumomo mo, Momomo

Shinobu Ohtaka’s Sumomo mo, Momomo (2008–2010) is a martial arts comedy series from Kurokawa, blending slapstick action with a romantic rivalry between two high school students, Koushi and Momoko. Published over 12 issues, the story follows Koushi’s quest to become a strong fighter to protect his family, only to find his childhood friend and fiercest rival, Momoko, is just as determined—and far more aggressive. Ohtaka’s energetic art and quick-witted dialogue define the series, which later laid groundwork for his more famous work, Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic. It matters as a playful, early showcase of his signature blend of humor, combat, and character-driven conflict.
