About the series
In 2019–2020, DC Comics released Superman Smashes the Klan, a three-issue miniseries by writer Gene Luen Yang and the art team Gurihiru. Set in 1940s Metropolis, it adapts the classic radio serial Clan of the Fiery Cross, bringing Superman face-to-face with the real-world hatred of the Ku Klux Klan as he defends a Chinese-American family from bigotry. Yang and Gurihiru’s work recontextualizes the Man of Steel as an immigrant hero, making this a vital, heartfelt story about identity, courage, and standing up to hate.
