About the series
From 1986 to 1987, Blackthorne Publishing let R. L. Crabb loose on a seven-issue series that reimagined the jackalope as a scrappy, two-fisted Western hero. Crabb wrote and drew the entire run, blending frontier folklore with a winking, self-aware sense of adventure. Tales of the Jackalope stands as a quirky cult artifact of the mid-80s black-and-white indie boom, where a mythical rabbit-antelope hybrid got to be the star.
