Tarzan Special

Published in Italy by Editrice Cenisio from 1972 to 1978, Tarzan Special collected 11 issues of the Lord of the Jungle’s adventures, drawing primarily on the work of American talents Russ Manning and Burne Hogarth. The series offered Italian readers a curated selection of classic Tarzan newspaper strips and comic stories, showcasing the dynamic, expressive artwork that defined the character’s mid-century comic legacy. While Gianni Bono contributed writing, the visual storytelling of Manning and Hogarth remained the series’ defining draw, making it a key European window into the jungle hero’s most celebrated comic-book era.
