Terror
De Vrijbuiter; De Schorpioen · 1971–1978 · 74 issues
About the series
From 1971 to 1978, the Dutch publisher De Vrijbuiter (and its imprint De Schorpioen) unleashed Terror, a 74-issue horror and fantasy comics series that thrived on visceral, painted covers and interiors. The series is most visually defined by the early, feverish work of Milo Manara—before his international fame—alongside the lush, painterly style of Carlo Jacono and the distinctive "dipinto" (painted) contributions of Studio Rosi. A wild, unflinching anthology that blended European eroticism with supernatural dread, Terror remains a cult touchstone for its raw, unpolished energy and its role in launching Manara’s career.
