The Authority

About the series
When Warren Ellis and Bryan Hitch launched The Authority in 1999 for DC's WildStorm imprint, they redefined the super-team concept by giving a cast of godlike beings a mandate to intervene in global and cosmic crises with brutal, unilateral force. The series quickly became a landmark of the "widescreen" action style, with Mark Millar and Frank Quitely later pushing its political and violent extremes. Over its 29-issue run, the book challenged the moral limits of power, influencing an entire generation of superhero storytelling.
