The Authority

A bold, short-lived reinvention of the superhero team concept, The Authority (2000–2006) was published by DC as a spin-off from Stormwatch, pushing the boundaries of the genre with its morally complex, world-changing approach to super-heroics. Most associated with the visionary work of writer Grant Morrison and artist Frank Quitely, the series also featured runs by Robbie Morrison and artists Dustin Nguyen and Dwayne Turner. Though it ran only eight issues, its impact on the early 2000s superhero landscape was outsized, challenging readers to consider what happens when heroes take on global—and cosmic—problems without restraint.
