The Avant-Guards

At Boom! Studios in 2019–2020, writer Carly Usdin and artist Noah Hayes launched The Avant-Guards, a two-issue comic series centered on a misfit college basketball team at an arts school. It brings together an ensemble of quirky, creative characters navigating friendship, teamwork, and self-discovery on and off the court. With its warm, character-driven storytelling, the series offers a fresh, inclusive take on the sports genre.
