The Black Hood

Archie Comics’ The Black Hood (1983–present) is a three-issue vigilante series starring its titular hero, a masked crimefighter whose gritty, pulp-inspired adventures stand apart from the publisher’s more wholesome fare. Written primarily by Cary Burkett, John Carbonaro, and Rich Margopoulos, with art by Gray Morrow and Dan Spiegle, this short-lived run offers a darker, street-level take on justice within Archie’s universe. Though brief, it marks a notable early experiment in expanding the publisher’s genre range beyond its classic teen comedy.
