After a decade of backup features and guest spots, DC gave Supergirl her own solo series in 1982, written primarily by Paul Kupperberg and drawn by legends Carmine Infantino and Curt Swan. This 13-issue run followed Kara Zor-El as she balanced her life as a college student under the alias Linda Danvers with her superheroics in Chicago, away from the familiar faces of Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, and Perry White.
