About the series
From 1983 to 1985, Eclipse Comics published The DNAgents, a 24-issue series that introduced a team of genetically engineered superheroes—Tank, Sham, Surge, Amber, Rainbow, and Crossfire—navigating a world wary of their origins. Written primarily by Mark Evanier and cat yronwode, with art by Will Meugniot, Richard Howell, and Mitch Schauer, the series stood out for its thoughtful take on corporate-created heroes and the ethics of their existence. A key early work from the independent comics boom, it remains a fondly remembered exploration of identity and responsibility in a pre-corporate-superhero landscape.
