The Ghost Rider

Magazine Enterprises · 1950–1954 · 14 issues
About the series

A gritty Western vigilante series from Magazine Enterprises, The Ghost Rider ran for 14 issues between 1950 and 1954, blending frontier justice with supernatural flair. Writer Gardner Fox crafted the adventures of Rex Fury, a man who dons a fiery skull mask to become the Ghost Rider, while artists Dick Ayers and a young Frank Frazetta brought the dusty landscapes and eerie action to vivid life. This pre-Marvel take on the character is a key early example of the Western comic boom, distinguished by Frazetta's striking covers and the unique, skull-faced hero who would later inspire a very different Marvel icon.
