About the series
In this short-lived 1994–1995 DC miniseries, writer Karl Kesel and artist Kieron Dwyer put a fresh, street-level spin on the classic super-team concept. Rather than cosmic threats, the Guardians of Metropolis tackled the gritty, everyday perils of their city, blending high-energy action with a grounded, character-driven sensibility. Though only four issues long, the series stands as a tight, inventive take on the superhero genre from two creators at the peak of their ’90s form.
