The History of Grendel: Grendel Tales

Matt Wagner’s Grendel Tales spun off from his epic Grendel saga, shifting the focus to new characters and corners of the Grendel mythos. Published by Dark Horse starting in 1993, this anthology series allowed Wagner and a rotating cast of collaborators to explore different eras and voices within the world of the masked, immortal antihero. Though the series itself ran for just a single issue, it stands as an early, experimental branch of Wagner’s long-running, influential creator-owned universe.
