The Legend of Oz: The Wicked West

In this six-issue miniseries from Big Dog Ink (2011–2012), writer Tom Hutchison and artist Alisson Borges reimagine L. Frank Baum’s Oz as a gritty, gunslinging frontier. The Wicked West transplants Dorothy, the Scarecrow, and the Tin Man into a dusty, dangerous landscape where the Yellow Brick Road is a trail of peril and the Emerald City is a boomtown. It’s a clever, visually striking fusion of fantasy and Western tropes that gives classic characters a fresh, rough-hewn edge.
