The Life After

In this four-issue series from Oni Press (2015–2017), writer Joshua Hale Fialkov and artist Gabo explore a surreal afterlife where a man named Jude discovers that the bureaucratic limbo he inhabits is actually a fiction—a purgatory constructed by a mysterious entity. As Jude and his fellow lost souls begin to question their reality, they find themselves on a strange, existential journey through the nature of death and identity. The series is a thoughtful, visually inventive meditation on what comes after, distinguished by Gabo's moody, expressive art and Fialkov's character-driven storytelling.
