About the series
In the mid-1960s, Archie Comics launched a short-lived but ambitious superhero team-up with The Mighty Crusaders, a seven-issue series running from 1965 to 1966. Under the guidance of writer Jerry Siegel—a co-creator of Superman—and artists Paul Reinman and Paul Are, the book assembled a roster of the publisher's classic crime-fighters, including Tommy Troy, The Black Hood, The Comet, and The Shield. Blending Golden Age revival with Silver Age energy, the series carved a small but memorable niche in Archie's superhero line, showcasing Siegel's flair for heroic adventure outside his most famous work.
