In 2009, First Second published The Photographer, a single-issue graphic novel that blends photojournalism with sequential art. The book chronicles war photographer Didier Lefèvre's harrowing journey into 1980s Afghanistan with Médecins Sans Frontières, combining his actual photographs with artwork by Emmanuel Guibert and color by Frédéric Lemercier.
