About the series
From 1970 to 1971, DC Comics published The Three Mouseketeers, a lighthearted seven-issue series that reimagined the classic swashbuckling tale with a cast of charming anthropomorphic mice. Written primarily by Sheldon Mayer and Sy Reit, with artwork by Rube Grossman and Mayer, the comic offered playful, all-ages adventure in the tradition of Disney-inspired funny-animal stories. While short-lived, it stands as a quirky and affectionate footnote in DC’s Silver Age output, showcasing the studio’s willingness to experiment with whimsical, non-superhero fare.
