In the late 1990s, French publisher Centre du Monde released Tiburce (1996–2001), a short-lived but distinctive four-issue series that stands out for its experimental, poetic approach to the medium. Known for its lush, painterly artwork and elliptical storytelling, the series was a passion project for its creators, blending surreal fantasy with a quiet, melancholic atmosphere. Though it never achieved mass popularity, Tiburce remains a cult favorite among European comic enthusiasts for its bold aesthetic and refusal to conform to conventional narrative structures.
