In the mid-1950s, Standaard Uitgeverij published a brief, two-issue comic series centered on the legendary Flemish folk hero Tijl Uilenspiegel, a trickster figure known for his sharp wit and defiance of authority. This short-lived series, released in 1954 and 1955, brought the classic prankster to life in a clean, accessible comic format for a new generation of readers. Though its run was limited, it stands as an early example of European comics adapting enduring folklore into sequential art.
