About the series
A short-lived but distinctive two-issue series from Germany's Volksverlag, U-Comix Sammelband (1974–1975) collected underground comix material, most prominently featuring the work of American cartoonist Gilbert Shelton. As a companion to the U-Comix magazine, this digest-sized volume offered a curated sampling of the countercultural, satirical, and often transgressive comics that defined the era's European underground scene. Though brief, its inclusion of Shelton's iconic characters and raw, irreverent style made it a notable artifact of the 1970s German comix boom.
